Water Resource Management & Major Irrigation

Dandavathi & Varada River Barrages

Secured Cabinet approval for a massive ₹168.8 crore development package for Sorabaa taluk. This includes a ₹38.5 crore project to construct a barrage across the Dandavathi River to directly feed and fill up 15 local village tanks, alongside a ₹54.7 crore bridge-cum-barrage across both the Dandavathi and Varada rivers to combat seasonal water scarcities.

Mavali Tank Restoration

Organized a highly successful, community-driven desilting initiative for the Mavali village tank using 183 local workers under rural employment programs during his initial legislative service. This model effectively restored water capacity and received official state recognition.

Advanced Lift Irrigation Systems

Fast-tracked engineering reviews to scale up minor lift irrigation canals for the Chikkashakuna & Devatanakoppa Lift Irrigation Schemes, successfully drawing water to feed dry agricultural blocks in the Anavatti hobli.

The 1,300 Village Tanks Mapping Master Plan

Leveraging his district in-charge authority, he organized a comprehensive desilting and rejuvenation master plan mapping out the constituency's 1,300 ancient local village tanks, ensuring structured water table recharge for small-scale farmers.

Future Blueprint

Path of Development

Soraba is undergoing a comprehensive urban and rural transition under a coordinated blueprint for socio-economic progress.

Social & Economic Progress

Sorabaaa's vibrant economy depends primarily on agriculture and allied activities. Fertile lands nourished by the Dandavathi and Varada rivers support highly productive crops such as paddy, groundnut, and coconut. The region is also globally known for its exquisite traditional sandalwood handicrafts.

Because a large section of the population relies on farming and agricultural labor, the effective implementation of comprehensive employment guarantee schemes remains essential for supporting rural livelihoods. Once considered one of Karnataka's relatively backward taluks due to historical geographical constraints, Sorabaaa has undergone a remarkable transformation and is steadily moving forward.
